This week in Team Education we watched a Ted Talk which taught us to have powerful conversations in lieu of insignificant small talk.
We’ve all sat through the agonizing time filler known as “small talk”. It’s one of those things that most people don’t like to do, but they feel like they have to. Everyone has been in a conversation and felt the only way to keep it alive is to ask questions such as:
I don’t think I would cause too much controversy if I said these questions are boring and don’t create deep conversation. But, how can you possibly have any sort of meaningful conversation with someone you barely know or haven’t seen for a long time?
Big Talk. That’s how. Big Talk allows you to dive into deeper questions and have meaningful conversation; it allows you to have the kind of conversation that captivates people and brings out real emotion. It circumvents the small talk, and jumps right into the things people really care about.
